Engagement time is the period a user actively spends on a website or individual page, from opening it until they leave or become inactive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In tools such as Google Analytics 4, engagement time is measured using the \u201cuser_engagement\u201d event. It fires automatically while a user remains active\u2014for example, while scrolling, clicking or keeping the page in the foreground. This means engagement time can still be measured accurately<\/strong>, even when only one page is viewed<\/strong>, without requiring a visit to another page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Engagement time is an important metric in Web analytics<\/a>. A longer engagement time often suggests relevant content or a clear user journey.
