Tracking scripts such as <a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/glossary\/gtag-js-global-site-tag\/\" data-type=\"glossar\" data-id=\"3875\">gtag.js<\/a>, pixels and other technologies load with the page and send information straight from the user\u2019s device to analytics or marketing services such as Google Analytics or Google Ads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Typical characteristics of client-side tracking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Data is collected directly in the browser<\/strong> using JavaScript or <a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/what-are-cookies-and-what-are-the-differences\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1965\">cookies<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quick to implement<\/strong> by adding tracking snippets to the page source<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Direct interaction<\/strong> with the user\u2019s device, for example to record clicks, scrolling and form activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vulnerable to tracking blockers<\/strong> and browser settings that block scripts or cookies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Client-side tracking is traditional and widely used in <a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/glossary\/web-analysis\/\" data-type=\"glossar\" data-id=\"3817\">Web analytics <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/glossary\/google-tag-manager-gtm\/\" data-type=\"glossar\" data-id=\"3873\">Google Tag Manager<\/a> is the standard approach.
