Unlike opt-in, consent is <strong>not given actively<\/strong>, but assumed until the user explicitly opts out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the EU, the opt-out model is no longer permitted for many forms of <a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/glossary\/tracking\/\" data-type=\"glossar\" data-id=\"3812\">tracking<\/a> or personalised advertising <strong>under current rules<\/strong>because the GDPR generally requires <strong>active consent (<a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/glossary\/opt-in\/\" data-type=\"glossar\" data-id=\"4025\">Opt-in<\/a>)<\/strong> ) .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some uses remain possible, for example in the United States or for certain technical functions. In these cases, users can opt out through a \u201cDisable cookies\u201d link or consent-management settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Important: Opting out must be just as easy as opting in.
