In Germany, according to <strong>ARD\/ZDF online study 2024<\/strong> and <strong>Statista<\/strong> at about <strong>60 to 62 million active users<\/strong>. This means that almost every internet user in Germany has WhatsApp installed - and uses it every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While reach on social media is evaporating and email inboxes are overflowing, WhatsApp offers something that is worth its weight in gold in marketing: <strong>Attention<\/strong>. Messenger messages are read. Industry insiders such as MessengerPeople and 360dialogue report on <strong>Opening rates above 90 per cent<\/strong>especially with cleanly collected <a href=\"https:\/\/trackboxx.com\/en\/glossary\/opt-in\/\" data-type=\"glossar\" data-id=\"4025\">Opt-in<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what does it actually mean to do \"WhatsApp marketing\"? What are the possibilities - and where are the limits? This article highlights the most important options, pitfalls and perspectives - and explains why now is a good time to get involved with messenger marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WhatsApp is not social media - but still a marketing channel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, WhatsApp is not public. No posts, no followers, no likes. And this is precisely where its potential lies. Communication takes place directly - <strong>between brand and people<\/strong>not brand and algorithm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to traditional social media platforms, WhatsApp:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No visibility through hashtags or trends,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in favour <strong>Extremely high opening rates<\/strong> (often over 90 % according to messenger service providers),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>one <strong>personal, intimate setting<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the opportunity to work with the customer <strong>in dialogue<\/strong> to stay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone setting up a marketing strategy today that is intended to have a lasting effect, <strong>can no longer rely on visibility alone<\/strong>. Visibility is fleeting. Relationship remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marketing on WhatsApp - these options are available<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">a) Broadcast lists (newsletter light)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With the free WhatsApp Business app, messages can be sent to several recipients at the same time - for example for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Offer updates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Event notes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New content (blog, podcast, video)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Important: Only contacts who have saved their own number in the phone book will receive the message. This makes the set-up complex - but of high quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">b) Individual chats - pure customer loyalty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether support, advice or follow-up calls: direct 1:1 communication is ideal for small businesses. There, users can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>through <strong>Product catalogues<\/strong> browse,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Article in the <strong>Shopping basket<\/strong> lay,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and even <strong>Pay directly in Messenger<\/strong> - via <strong>WhatsApp Pay<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In India, this feature was launched in 2022 in collaboration with the retailer <strong>JioMart<\/strong> and has been continuously expanded ever since. Meta itself describes it as the \"first fully integrated shopping experience within WhatsApp\" - including product search, ordering and payment via UPI (Unified Payments Interface)\u3010Source: Meta Newsroom, 2022 \u2192 Link\u3011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Germany<\/strong> this range of functions is not yet <strong>not available<\/strong>. Although <strong>Product catalogues<\/strong> in the WhatsApp Business app and customers can order via chat - but a complete order history is not possible. <strong>Checkout and payment function directly in the app<\/strong> is missing so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However, Meta has communicated clearly<\/strong>that WhatsApp will also become a fully-fledged <strong>Commerce platform<\/strong> wants to expand.
