FAQ

Google Analytics is a Google service used on millions of websites. It is free for users because Google processes and analyses the data for its own products and services.

Trackboxx provides GDPR-compliant web analytics that processes and visualises visitor statistics without cookies and without storing personal data.

Trackboxx is a paid service, which allows us to provide this privacy-focused solution.

Trackboxx provides web analytics without cookies and without storing personal data.

We use the visitor’s IP address once, together with several other parameters, to generate a hash that recognises the visitor during their session. The hash is stored for no more than 24 hours and is then deleted automatically, so the visitor cannot be recognised later.

It is not possible to view a visitor’s history or recover an IP address from the hash.

We store only essential analytics data, such as visitor numbers, page views, traffic sources, bounce rate and device type.

Hashing and decryption explained:

We create two hash values: one for the visitor and one for the page being viewed.

User Hash: Signature Hash + IP + User Agent + SiteID + Current Day

Page hash: Signature Hash + IP + User Agent + SiteID + Hostname + Path + Current Day

The signature hash is renewed daily, ensuring that the data cannot be decrypted retrospectively.

Please note that this is not legal advice. If in doubt, website operators should consult their data protection officer or legal adviser.

One of Trackboxx’s main advantages is that, in our view, it does not require separate opt-in consent through a consent banner.

We recognise that some privacy experts take a different view because Trackboxx temporarily processes a visitor’s IP address.

Here is a brief statement from our data protection team:

"Storing personal data does not always require consent. This requirement does not follow from the TTDSG either: Section 25 TTDSG covers cookies and similar technologies. Article 6 GDPR provides the possible legal bases, and legitimate interests may apply to Trackboxx.

Trackboxx processes the IP address solely to anonymise it, or to pseudonymise it for as long as the hash remains valid."

Our smallest plan starts at €5 per month and includes up to 25,000 page views, which is enough for many websites.

The Basic plan costs €5 per month and includes one website and up to 25,000 page views.

For many websites, this plan will be sufficient.

For example, 100 daily visitors viewing an average of three pages each would generate about 9,000 page views per month.

Business plans include additional features such as ecommerce tracking, Google Search Console integration, up to 10 websites and 10 users.

You will not be charged automatically if you exceed your page-view allowance.

The Free plan is a completely free way to use Trackboxx on your website. Unlike the paid plans, it is limited to 1,000 page views and does not include the following features:

  • Live visitors
  • Google Keywords
  • Reporting
  • Outbound links
  • Conversions / Goals
  • E-commerce tracking
  • UTM sources
  • Public Dashboard
  • Support

The 30-day trial is available with every plan and includes all features. After 30 days, your account becomes inactive unless you choose a paid plan. No payment details are required for the trial.

You will not incur automatic additional charges if you exceed your page-view limit.

If you exceed the 1,000-page-view limit on the Free plan, a notification will appear in your dashboard.

Once the limit is reached, additional statistics are no longer stored or displayed.

On paid plans, you will also see a notification in the dashboard. Tracking continues for another 24 hours so you have time to respond.

You can either upgrade your subscription or purchase an additional page-view package.

Once you add a website, the tracking code appears in your dashboard. Copy it and paste it into your website’s header before the closing </head> tag.

You can find detailed instructions in our Help Center.

Official integration plugins are available for platforms including WordPress and JTL.

You can cancel a paid subscription and keep your traffic data stored for up to six months.

If you prefer, you can also delete your entire Trackboxx account and all associated data from your user account.

Trackboxx uses Paddle to process payments and sell its plans. As a result, Paddle.com appears as the payee on invoices and PayPal transactions.

Trackboxx uses dynamic bot and spam-bot detection.

Common bots such as Google, Bing and Yahoo are excluded from your statistics.

We also filter bots from SEO tools such as Semrush, Sistrix and Ahrefs.

Our system also identifies known spam sources and uses external data to exclude this traffic.

This means that around 99% of the visits shown in your dashboard come from real users.
